Adult Wednesday Together 2010 Class Schedule

"The Story of Joseph– Overcoming Life’s Challenges"

The Chapel • 6:30pm Led by Dr. Coker

Does it seem like life just isn’t fair? Then you can relate to Joseph whose life was filled with injustice, who found himself as a victim. Yet in the face of the most difficult circumstances, Joseph responded with faith, hope, and confidence in God. This study will walk with Joseph through his life’s disappointments and learn with him about the goodness and faithfulness of God. This class is led by Dr. Coker. The class will meet in the Chapel.

"Chase the Lion"

The Rankin Building 6:30pm Led by Dr. Toney

This study will focus initially on a soldier in the Bible, Benaiah, and how he chased a lion down into a pit. The class will then focus on how God doesn’t call Christians to lead safe lives, but to follow God wherever he leads to include chasing the lions in our lives.

"The Tough Sayings of Jesus"

The Mary McQueen Room 6:30pm Led by Mr. Baker

Maybe you think you know Jesus pretty well—the Son of God who is kind, gentle, and loving. But dig deeper in Scripture, and you’ll discover some things Jesus said that are … well, hard to swallow. Those passages often leave us, His modern-day followers, with more questions than answers.
As you explore the historical and cultural context surrounding the four tough sayings found in this Bible study (the rich young ruler in Mark 10, the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15, the unforgivable sin in Matthew 12, and a contradiction about who Jesus is in Matthew 10 and Luke 12), you can develop a level of intimacy with your group that encourages everyone to continue asking questions long after this study is complete. And hopefully, you’ll discover that questions and doubts are OK—and can usually help to deepen and strengthen your faith.
