First School

The First Presbyterian Church First School was founded in 1978 as a ministry of the church to provide a unique learning experience for children in the church and community. Our overall goal is to minister to the needs of each child in a nurturing Christian learning environment that promotes the total child's growth.

Morning drop-off is 8:30am to 9am.

Mother’s Morning Out, Two-year-old, Three-year-old and PreK classes are 9am to 12pm, with an optional Lunch Bunch until 1pm.

K-T Academy dismisses at 1pm.

First School is developmental in its approach. We believe that children learn best by doingand that they make discoveries on their own through play. What the child learns through creating something is more important than the finished product. We foster an atmosphere in which the teacher values each child for his or her individual qualities. Each one is encouraged to learn as it benefits his or her level of readiness.

The First School program can be characterized as very positive, creative, relational, flexible, and individualized. It includes a mixture of dramatic play, manipulative games, stories, singing, field trips, cooking experiences, and many special activities that allow the child to interact with the world. Three specific areas are stressed within this learning environment: self-concept, social skills, and language development.

First School fills the classrooms on the first floor of First Presbyterian Church’s new education building in historic Fayetteville. All rooms have children’s handwashing facilities and restrooms. Our playground occupies 1/4 acre and has new playground equipment, a sandbox, and swings.

All classes attend chapel weekly for Bible lessons, music and prayer. The children also present Christmas and end-of-year programs.
